Angelina Jolie Credits Her Late Mother Marcheline Bertrand For Her Parenting Skills

Angelina Jolie recently credited her late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, for everything she’s learned and has been doing as a mother for her six children.
During a recent interview with Elle France, the 41-year-old “Maleficent” actress revealed that she strives to be the best example to her kids, Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and Vivienne and Knox, 8. “She would have thrived as a grandmother. I know how much she would have contributed to their lives and I am sad they will miss out on that. I would give anything for her to be with me at this time. I’ve need her. I talk to her often in my mind and try to think what she might say and how she might guide me,” she said.
Bertrand, who was a French-American actress, raised Jolie and her brother, Haven, by herself following her divorce from Jon Voight. At the time, Jolie was still a toddler so she hasn’t spent as much time with Voight. But in recent years, Jolie and Voight have reunited with each other, and the award-winning actor has been present at some of Jolie’s premiere nights.
Meanwhile, Jolie also opened up about motherhood and how the experience has changed now that she’s raising her children by herself. The actress filed for divorce from her estranged husband, Brad Pitt, in September 2016. “It is the greatest gift and responsibility. It means doing everything that you can to live by your values and try to be an example to your children,” she said.
This is not the first time that Jolie talked about Bertrand in a recent interview. Last month, the actress explained to Marie Claire why she decided to take part in her first international beauty campaign in a decade with Guerlain. Jolie shared that her mom also happened to be a huge fan of the perfume brand. “It spoke to her, as it does to me, of beauty, history and quality; one of the oldest perfume houses in the world, from France, a country I love and feel connected to,” she told the publication.

Jolie also said that Bertrand was a very simple woman who never spoiled herself or wore makeup. But every once in a while, she would buy a few items like her Guerlain powder that made her feel special.
